The Purpose of UPEA

1. To promote public service in the State of Utah in a manner consistent with the best interests of the state, the
   public, and public employees.
2. To promote the highest standards of employee conduct in governmental affairs and to encourage a high sense of civic responsibility.
3. To promote and uphold the fundamental principles of merit systems and benefit programs designed to attract and retain competent public employees.
4. To educate the people of Utah regarding the worth of their government and the welfare of its employees to the end that public employees receive the respect and support to which they are entitled.
5. To promote unity, friendship, cooperation, and harmony among Utah public employees to the end that they receive the security and benefits which faithful and efficient service merit.
6. Promote individual members' rights and privileges as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
7. UPEA is Utah's most experienced and influential employee advocate.
